The University Grants Commission (UGC) is a statutory body set up by the Government of India. It is responsible for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India. It also provides recognition to universities in India, and disburses funds to such recognized universities and colleges. The UGC NET is a national level examination conducted by the UGC for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the post of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC NET exam is conducted every year in the month of December. The UGC NET subjects and codes are as follows:
